A tribute to Magi - Trustee and treasurer
Magi was born at Tan y Fron, Boduan and was the daughter of Robert Rice and Eiddwen Griffiths. She was one of four children, Janet, Iona and Trebor. After leaving Primary school, she attended Pwllheli Grammar school and from there went to the Teacher's Training college in Barry. But was unable to finish her course. She had to return home to care for the family, following her father's fatal accident.
Eventually, she became an employee with Barclays Bank at Amlwch, Pwllheli and Abersoch.
It was here in Abersoch, she met the love of her life , Arthur. They were married for nearly sixty years.
She had various jobs before becoming Mr Minoprio's personal assistant at The Warren for 36 years.
Her secreterial work was professional and immaculate. Her hobbies and interests were vast and varied. A member of several societies, both locally and nationally. She was secretary of the Abersoch Villlage Hall, Treasurer of the Society of Edward Llwyd, a respected member of the Parish of Llanengan Heritage Group, the local camera club and Mercher y Wawr.
Magi was successful many times in photographic competitions locally and in Gwynedd. She used to get up early to take photgraphs in the Harbour, when no one was about.
Magi was a quiet soul but laughted a lot. Her favorite pastime apart from photography was her greenhouse and her flowers.
She fought hard to overcome her illness...... always with a smile and a chuckle. We are blessed and honoured to have her as part of our lives.
We should take a leaf from Magi's book of life
' Life is a great big canvas,
Throw all the paint you can on it.'
